ATTENTION: ALL JHSECURE VPN USERS FOR REMOTE ACCESS - SERVICE TERMINATION
The JHSecure VPN remote access product will be retired on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 and will no longer be supported or used to access the Johns Hopkins Network.

JHSecure is being replaced by JHConnect, a tool that uses browser technologies to make secure connections to the Johns Hopkins Network.

The new JHConnect tool is available and information can be found here:   https://portalcontent.johnshopkins.edu/sslvpn/JHConnect-FAQ.html

EPR and WebEPR require a VPN to ensure secure remote access. If you need assistance configuring systems with this new technology, please contact your LAN administrator.

If you encounter any issues or problems when using JHConnect, please contact the Help Desk at 410-735-HELP(4357) for additional support.

Technical Advisory: Microsoft Vista
The EPR client application is NOT compatible with ANY version of Microsoft Vista.

EPR v4 and Web EPR

Obtaining an EPR User ID

EPR and Web EPR use the same log-in process. Users trained on EPR95 or EPR98 are able to use EPR without further training. All users of EPR are able to use EPR Web.

Clinicians and staff who are NOT currently set up to use EPR or Web EPR must follow the steps given below to obtain a User ID.

  1. Software.  EPR is automatically pushed to all "Public Workstations" and some private LANs (Local Area Networks) throughout JHH and BMC. Your LAN administrator will set up your PC with the software necessary to receive each release of EPR. If you are not on one of the LAN's where EPR is currently available, use the Suggestion Box to request assistance obtaining EPR software.   Refer to System Requirements before attempting to install EPR.

EPR Web:  Software required for EPR Web is a Web browser enabled for JavaScript and Cookies. Browsers such as Netscape version 3 or later, or Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4 or later are supported. The workstation must have a TCP/IP address on the Hopkins network.

  2. Training.  Contact the JHMCIS Training Center at 4-0958 to schedule training. Computer Based Training modules are also available; however, these CBT's are NOT a substitute for attending a training class.

  3. User Account.  Once training is complete, the JHMCIS Security group will be notified to set up a User ID for you. If you do not currently have the ability to log into the Mainframe, a form will have to be completed and signed by your Security Coordinator.

  4. Dictation.  Physicians interested in using Medquist TL (formerly Signal Transcription) service for EPR documents, please contact Medical Records (JHH: 955-5226;  BMC: 550-0691).

If you have any questions regarding the above, please use the Suggestion Box.
